Catherine Preece has been working with and breeding Flat coated Retrievers since 1997.

Glainddu's Flat Coated Retrievers is a registered  Breeder with the Canadian Kennel Club. Located on Vancouver Island we are privileged to have access to some of the best training facilities around.  Our dogs take center stage in the conformation ring, Obedience and Rally rings,  Tracking and Hunting fields. 

Our focus is  working ability, Conformation and  pets. Always goofy enthusiastic sensitive and sweet.

As Breeders our goal is to support our puppy people. We like to maintain contact with our extended families and love receiving updates on how everyone is doing.

 Health :  

 Flat-Coats used in our breeding program  have clearances for their hips, eyes and patella's.  These are not major problems in the breed, but that is our standard of testing. Some of the other health screenings commonly done include elbows, cardiac, thyroid and gonioscopy but they are not a requirement.

 Cancer afflicts many dogs, both purebred and mixed breed alike, but Flat-Coats are more prone to histiocytic-type cancers than most other breeds. There is no current “test” to eliminate this problem, but careful studies of pedigrees by breeders, combined with enthusiastic support for research studies is helping to make headway against this problem.
